THE CANADA PAVILION

Booth #591 is located across from the Lunar Lounge and adjacent to the Wired Lounge on the Exhibition Floor. Click here for the location in the hall. We are proud to say that there are over 40 Canadian companies involved in Team Canada, with 11 booths inside the Canada Pavilion itself.

 

THE CANADA PAVILION RECEPTION CENTRE

Check in with the Reception Centre when you arrive to provide any brochures you have arranged to display and to provide your contact information. The Reception Centre is there to help you connect with others at the IAC if they arrive at the Canada Pavilion to meet with you, the Reception Centre can message you. The Reception Centre will also have up to date information on the activities of IAC and other Canada hosted events.

If you would like to have a meeting while in Washington, you will have access to a meeting room (between 10am – 4pm ) each day, a short 10 min walk away. Visit the Canada Reception desk to book.

EXHIBITORS PAVILION MATERIALS

If your agreement included the ability to provide us with brochures for display in the Pavilion, please bring those to the Reception Centre (see below). We will accept no more than 500 pieces of marketing material. Any additional will be sent back with you as storage in the Pavilion is limited. 

NAME BADGES

For those of you that have purchased Exhibitor Passes through us, we are in the process of registering you. An email confirmation from IAC will be sent to you. If there is an amount on the confirmation email, please do not pay it; please advise us right away. To receive your badge, bring the emailed IAC confirmation, which includes the QR code, to the Registration Desk at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in the East Salon during the following hours: 

• Saturday, 19 October: 1300–1800 hrs 

• Sunday, 20 October: 0800–1800 hrs 

• Monday, 21 October: 0700–1600 hrs 

• Tuesday, 22 October – Friday October 25: 0800–1600 hrs 

 

​Please remember that this is a limited pass that excludes technical sessions. Your badge will provide access to the exhibition area, Opening Ceremony, Welcome Reception and the plenary program. Participation in technical sessions is not included and requires registration as a full participant. 

 

SPECIAL ACTIVITIES AT THE IAC

The Canada Pavilion is hosting several special activities to draw interest to Team Canada: 

• The Canadian Opening Night Reception in the Canada Pavilion (Booth #591) will take place Monday, October 21 @ 16:15 – 17:45. Invite everyone to attend! We will be serving Canadian Beer! 

• Activities and contests will be held each day to draw more people to the booth. 

• The Canada Pavilion Social Media team will be on-site to promote all activities within the Pavilion. 

• There is a Canada Reception Centre (in the Pavilion) to assist all Canada Pavilion participants. 

• IAC Opening Ceremonies and details on the IAC Opening Reception have not yet been released.

Opening Ceremony

Date and Time: October 21, 9:00am – 10:30am

Location: Ballroom ABC

Featuring the Honourable Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States 

The Honourable Mike Pence, Vice President of the United States, will be addressing Congress attendees at the conclusion of the Opening Ceremony. In preparation, you are strongly encouraged to arrive EARLY to get through security and to your seats. We recommend giving yourself additional time to get to the Walter E. Washington Convention Center as certain roads may be closed to accommodate the Vice President’s address.

All weapons, mace, pocket knives, aerosol spray, selfie sticks, tripods, umbrellas with metal tips, large bags or backpacks, and outside food or beverages will not be permitted inside the convention center.* 

We strongly recommend that you do not bring bags of any size into the Opening Ceremony to reduce delays with security. Attendees are permitted to bring cameras, provided that they are for personal use only. Cameras with a lens longer than eight (8) inches may not be brought into the Congress, except by credentialed media. 

There is a coat and bag storage available next to registration for $5 per item, cash or credit only. The coat and bag storage will be open for the duration of the Congress during registration and Opening Reception hours.

A note from the venue: Get your badge EARLY! Grand Ballrooms ABC, where the Opening Ceremony will take place, will open at 0600 hrs on Monday morning. You are encouraged to be through security and into Grand Ballrooms ABC by 0900 hrs. Entry into the Opening Ceremony after 0900 hrs is not guaranteed. Please note that photo ID is required.

GOVERNMENT OF CANADA HOSTED ACTIVITIES

As a registered attendee your contact information has been shared with Global Affairs Canada, Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Canadian Space Agency. These groups will reach out to you directly with information relating to any activities or events that they are hosting. CSS and SatCan are not responsible for the guest list or invitations to these events. 

CANADA FEDERAL ELECTION

The 2019 Canadian federal election is scheduled to take place on October 21, 2019. Which is while we will all be in Washington. The Canadian Embassy in Washington D.C will NOT provide a means of voting for Canadian residents while they are traveling. There will no means to vote while you are attending IAC 2019. Please vote prior to your departure, either via the advanced polls, at your Elections Canada Office or by mail. For details on your options please visit this page.

 

GETTING AROUND WASHINGTON

IAC is happening at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center which is right downtown. The IAC has put together some information, on ground transportation, you may find helpful. 

 

TRAVEL TO THE USA

Many of you who are travelling to the USA and who also hold a Canadian passport will not be subject to visa restrictions (unless there are criminal conviction issues that have not been pardoned). For those of you who do not hold a Canadian passport, and for those non-Canadian (and non-USA) citizens travelling to the USA, please contact your travel agent or visit https://travel.state.gov/content/travel.html to find out about any Visa requirements you may need, in order for you to enter the USA.
